A Piercing and a Chuck E. Cheese Birthday

Yesterday was Colette's 5th birthday. And she had quite a day starting with a pancake breakfast by her daddy. Then off to the mall to get her ears pierced. Growing up we had a tradition that when we turned 5 we could get our ears pierced if we wanted and Colette has been waiting for this day. She did it too and I hope this is not the beginning of wanting more. She was super brave and only teared up after the second ear and then she kept looking at herself in every mirror we passed. She said she wanted to go to the beach for ice cream but, daddy had a better idea and we ended up at Chuck E. Cheese. I honestly was not excited about going there, but it wasn't my birthday. She had a blast and last minute my parents, Joe's mom, Chris and Sarah, Auntie Katie and Uncle Scott, Auntie Lulu, Nay Nay and Rachel came. As everyone was leaving I told them "thank you for coming to Colette's first birthday party" my dad corrected me with "thank you for coming to Colette's first 5th birthday party". In typical fashion, she has been celebrating her birthday for a good week, which will end in a ballerina party on Saturday.

Many of you know that Mason, Colette's best buddy since pretty much birth moved to Papua New Guinea this year. And when we were planning for Saturday we asked her who she wanted to invite...Of course Mason had to come. She told me that he could just fly over here from PNG and then go home. I told her I didn't think that there was an extra $3000 floating around to make that happen. But, he did send her a very sweet gift of a PNG beautiful handmade top and skirt. She was so happy to get a gift from him. She told me she is going to keep the outfit on all day.
